In October 2011, the American Humane Association presented their first-ever Hero Dog Awards, honoring service canines who’ve shown extraordinary bravery, fortitude, and devotion. Over 400,000 people voted, and eight category winners were chosen out of a total field of 500. The Hero Dogs Calendar celebrates these special dogs (and hero dogs in training) with gorgeous, full-color portraits that fully capture their intelligence and courageous spirit. Sage, a search-and-rescue dog who served in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, as well as in Iraq looking for missing and captured U.S. soldiers. Therapy dog Stacey Mae, who spends her days lifting spirits in hospitals and nursing homes. The royalties from the sale of this calendar go to protecting hero dogs every day.
